The Conservation, Restoration, and Repair of Stringed Instruments and Their Bows

edited by Tom Wilder

Two maps showing the reduction in area of Brazil’s Mata Atlântica (Atlantic Forest) and the stands  of Pernambuco hardwood therein. I used data published by Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística, as well as the patience and generosity of Wm. Wayt Thomas, PhD, Elizabeth G. Britton Curator of Botany, Institute of Systematic Botany, The New York Botanical Garden, who kindly took the time to answer my badgering questions.

The other three maps depict London as it was during the 19th century, for the chapter, English Bow Makers of the Dodd and Tubbs Families, by Philip J. Kass. I elected to copy the 1868 Map Of London by Edward Weller and John Dower of the Royal Geographical Society.

London and its Environs

The numbers correspond to a list of addresses in the text and the two rectangles to the other two detailed maps.

Jewish Roots, Canadian Soil

Yiddish Cultural Life in Montreal, 1905-1945

Rebecca Margolis

The author wanted a map of the Plateau area of Montreal. The book is about Jews living in this are during the early 20th century, and so i chose a font and style that reflects the period. I also had to be mindful of certain changes to the landscape, specifically the absence of the Pine/Park interchange. But i managed to dig up enough photographs and maps from the period to work out how everything was situated.
