Translating Montreal

Episodes in the Life of a Divided City

Sherry Simon

McGill-Queen's University Press

A sophisticatedly modern setting for an exploration of the various forms and meanings of translation across the French-English divide in increasingly multi-cultural Montreal. The small pictures that decorate the title and chapter opening pages are details of a nineteenth-century map of the city. The text is in 11.4/14 x 26p Adobe Bembo Pro with the title in Zapfino and the rest of the display in FF Scala Sans. While a smaller trim was desired, the 6 x 8½ dimensions kept the book under 300 pages at 296.
