Chapter numbers, long chapter titles, authors’ names, and abstracts threatened to overwhelm the chapter opening pages but, by setting the text to a narrow column, the design retains an impression of elegance and spaciousness. The text is set in 11/13.4 Adobe Garamond with Gill Sans. The combination of italics and roman in the title emphasizes the unsettled nature of histories that are constantly being revised, revisited, and reconceived. The trim is 6 x 9 inches and the length is 432 pages.
