The Woman who Mapped Labrador

The Life and Expedition Diary of Mina Hubbard

Roberta Buchanan, Anne Hart, and Bryan Greene

McGill-Queen's University Press

Mina Hubbard's diary of her 1905 Labrador expedition is bracketed by introductory essays on the context and importance of her achievement and an account of her unusual life. The slightly oversize trim of 6⅛ x 9¼ inches allowed flexibility in the design while keeping the book to 528 pages. The text is set in 11/14 Adobe Garamond Pro with Zapfino for the title and part title pages as well as the section heads in the diary. The diary is set to a width of 24 picas to distinguish it from the biography and essays, both of which are set to 27 picas. The diary is further set apart by a watermark of Mina Hubbard's initials in the margin beside the running head on the verso page.
